Farmer's markets
I love farmer’s markets. Not only one can get the freshest produce, but also organic and at very good prices. Huge difference from tomatoes that have been in transit for three days and sprayed with ethanol to make them nice and red just before hitting the shelves!
Another bonus is limited availability. They usually have only stuff that is in season, which makes it much easier to decide what to get. Today I got (among other things) some fava beans, three kinds of squash, some bell peppers, delicious cherries… I swear I’ve never eaten so many fruits and vegetables before moving to California! Coupled with our butcher Ron, San Francisco if food heaven!
